Secure every dead-end and angle point with engineered confidence. Hebei Yipeng Line Equipment manufactures high-performance strain clamps for overhead transmission and distribution lines worldwide. With over 15 years of production experience, ISO-certified processes, and direct export to 40+ countries, we deliver quality you can spec with confidence.
A strain clamp — also called a dead end clamp, tension clamp, or dead-end fitting — is a critical overhead line hardware component used to anchor and terminate conductors under tensile load. Unlike suspension clamps (which simply support a conductor's weight), a strain clamp is engineered to bear the full pulling tension of the wire, making it the primary mechanical anchor at:
Dead-end poles and terminal towers
Sharp angle points (>15°) on transmission routes
River crossings, road crossings, and span terminations
Substation structure connections
Guy wire and ground wire anchoring points
When a strain clamp fails, the entire line span is at risk. That is why material selection, grip strength specification, and corrosion protection are non-negotiable.
Strain clamps are used to fix conductors and ground wires to insulators or link fittings to tower arms and substation structures.
There are two basic systems of strain clamps,
1. Detachable clamps, such as wedge-type tension clamps, thimbles, bolted type tension clamps, which allow for subsequent adjustment.
2. Non-detachable clamps, such as compression dead-end clamps which require absolute matching to the conductor length.
The type of strain clamps are including NLL-1, NLL-2, NLL-3, NLL-4 and so on.
Buyers frequently confuse these two fitting types. Here is a quick reference:
| Feature | Strain Clamp | Suspension Clamp |
|---|---|---|
| Primary Function | Anchors conductor under tension | Supports conductor vertically |
| Load Direction | Horizontal tensile force | Vertical dead weight |
| Installation Point | Dead ends, angle towers | Tangent/straight-line towers |
| Conductor Release | Fixed (some types adjustable) | Can swing freely |
| Typical Load | 10kN – 120kN+ | 5kN – 30kN |
If your project involves a line angle greater than 5–10°, a strain clamp is required — a suspension clamp will not provide adequate mechanical holding.
Power Transmission Lines (66kV – 500kV)
Compression dead end strain clamps are standard equipment on high-voltage lattice tower lines. Yipeng has supplied fittings to projects across Africa, Southeast Asia, and South America.
MV/LV Distribution Networks (10kV – 35kV)
NLL bolt type strain clamps dominate distribution pole infrastructure. Our NLL series ships in standardized sets matching standard conductor tables from IEC, DIN, and local utility specs.
Overhead Bundled Conductor (ABC/LV) Systems
Wedge-type tension clamps and insulated dead end assemblies for 0.6/1kV ABC systems. Fully compatible with insulated messenger wire.
Substations & Switching Yards
Strain clamps connecting incoming overhead spans to substation gantry structures require high-precision fabrication — Yipeng's substation-grade fittings are dimensionally matched to IEC 61952 link fitting standards.
Renewable Energy & Solar Farm Feeders
Medium-span distribution feeders connecting solar generation to grid evacuation poles increasingly use our NLL-3 and NLL-4 strain clamps for their combination of light weight and robust grip.
Yipeng is a manufacturer, not a trading company. You deal directly with the production source, which means tighter quality control visibility, faster custom order turnaround, and prices that reflect actual factory cost.
ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System
Products tested to GB/T 2315 and IEC 61284
SGS and BV third-party inspection accepted
CE Declaration available for European utility tenders
Yipeng strain clamps and overhead line fittings have been exported to France, Italy, Portugal, Russia, Morocco, and 35+ additional countries. We participate in international industry exhibitions including Enlit Europe — verifying our standing in the global power hardware community.
Non-standard conductor sizes, special alloy grades, custom shackle configurations, or client-logo marking — Yipeng's engineering team works from drawings or samples. MOQ for custom strain clamp variants: typically 500–1,000 pieces depending on specification.
Standard NLL series: ex-stock or 7–15 days lead time
Custom compression dead ends: 20–35 days
Full-container load (FCL) and LCL shipments handled from Tianjin or Shanghai port
Pre-shipment inspection coordinated with buyer's agent
Q: What is the difference between NLL-1, NLL-2, NLL-3, and NLL-4 strain clamps?
A:The NLL number indicates the conductor cross-section range the clamp accommodates. NLL-1 suits smaller conductors (typically 25–50mm²), while NLL-4 handles larger cross-sections (up to 240–300mm²). Always match the model to your conductor's actual diameter — undersizing causes grip failure; oversizing allows slippage.
Q: Can strain clamps be reused after removal?
A:Bolt type (NLL series) and wedge type strain clamps are designed to be detachable and can be reused if not deformed. Compression dead end clamps are permanently installed and cannot be reused — the barrel is irreversibly crimped to the conductor.
Q: What conductor types are your strain clamps compatible with?
A:Our standard NLL range covers AAC (All Aluminum Conductor), AAAC, and ACSR (Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced). Compression dead ends are also available for ACSS, hard-drawn copper, and bimetallic conductors. Please specify conductor type and cross-section when inquiring.
Q: Do you supply test reports with your strain clamps?
A:Yes. Batch tensile test reports are available for all shipments. For project orders above certain thresholds, we coordinate third-party (SGS / BV) pre-shipment inspection at buyer's request.
Q: What is the minimum order quantity?
2:For standard NLL bolt type strain clamps, MOQ is 100 pieces per model. For compression dead end clamps, MOQ is 50 pieces per model. Sample orders of 5–10 pieces are accepted for new clients.
