The service life of insulators

China Composite Insulators Manufacturer shares that the glass insulator has the characteristics of zero value self-detonation. The first reason for self-detonation is the impurities and nodules in the glass during the manufacturing process. If the impurities and nodules are distributed in the inner tension layer, some of them will explode within a period of time after the product is made. Therefore, the manufacturing unit should store the product for a period of time after manufacturing in order to find out the potential quality problems in manufacturing. If impurities or nodels are distributed in the outer compression layer, after running on the power line for a period of time, it may cause the glass insulation to explode under the strong cold and hot temperature difference and electromechanical load.

In addition, during operation, partial discharge will occur under the action of power-frequency voltage when the dirt layer on the surface of the glass insulator is damped. The long-term heating caused by partial discharge will cause the insulation of the glass to drop and cause zero value self-explosion. So glass insulators operating in heavily polluted areas have an increased rate of self-detonation. However, the self-detonation rate of glass insulators is different from the deterioration rate of porcelain insulators and the aging rate of organic composite insulators. The self-detonation rate of glass insulators belongs to early exposure, and decreases year by year with the extension of operation time, while the deterioration rate of porcelain insulators belongs to late exposure. With the extension of time, the degradation rate of glass insulators will gradually increase under the combined electromechanical load. Due to the aging characteristics of organic materials, the aging rate and deterioration rate of composite insulators will increase with time. It is generally believed that the aging life of glass insulators and porcelain insulators abroad is about 50 years, while the aging life of composite insulators is no more than 25 years.
